Good Samaritan Hospital Health Ministries Program and United Against Violence of Greater Dayton are sponsoring this event on March 31, 2017 along with support from the Miami Valley Crime Prevention Association, Dayton Police Department and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. The event will be held at the Madison Lakes Learning and Conference Center, 581 Olive Rd., Dayton, OH.

Throughout history faith communities have been concerned about the values of human life, the environment and the communities they serve. Now, more than ever before, issues of crime prevention, general safety, and emergency preparedness must be a priority.

During this program the concepts of the ‘crime triangle’ and how participants can protect themselves and others to enhance their safety in a violent situation including an active shooter incident will be described. Crime prevention approaches through structural, social and administrative environmental components will be also be defined. Information will also be provided about available resources to address these concerns as they apply to different settings.

This workshop is designed for faith community nurses, health ministers, clergy and staff and any others with an interest in public safety as it relates to communities of faith.

This course provided 3.3 contact hours.

Pre-registration is required. For more information please contact Michelle Randall, Program Assistant of the Good Samaritan Hospital Health Ministries Program, at 937-734-9454.
